Okay, so Nintendo’s got this new thing coming out — Drag x Drive. Just goofy enough to make sense, right? It’s a wheelchair basketball game, which feels kinda random but also really cool. And they’re showing off these new mouse controls on August 14. Same day Madden NFL 26 hits the Switch 2. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe just Nintendo being cheeky with the calendar.
Anyway, there’s more to this. People are talking about how Drag x Drive’s dropping hints about the Switch 2’s 2025 calendar. Like, what’s coming out when? No idea, but might as well speculate, right? The price is set at $19.99. Feels like they’re experimenting, trying to round out a relatively slow summer for game releases. It’s also when we get the Switch 2 version of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Mouthful Modes, my friends. Sounds bizarre.
Oh, in July — almost forgot — Donkey Kong Bananza is popping up, along with Super Mario Party Jamboree. These re-releases are kinda like getting leftovers for dinner. Still good, just not… fresh. But what do I know?
September, though, that’s a ghost town for Nintendo. Nothing officially from them. It’s like they decided to sit back and let third parties handle it — Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy, Daemon x Machina, you name it. I guess they’re setting up for October with Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Fast forward to 2025, and they still haven’t penciled in Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4. But, if you ask me, Metroid Prime would slide into September perfectly. Feels like a game to chew on when Kirby’s out.
And let’s not forget! Kirby Air Riders and whatever else they’re cooking up could spice up autumn. Meanwhile, third parties are throwing us Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, Hades 2… maybe even this year’s Call of Duty. Who knows?
But wait, there’s more GameCube action on the horizon for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem, Luigi’s Mansion… the classics, you know? So, even when it feels like a slow drip of games in 2025, don’t be surprised if Nintendo tosses in a curveball. They love their surprises, right?
