Alright, here we go. So, there’s this streaming thing—Dropout, right? Used to be College Humor. Anyway, it’s pretty big now, mainly ’cause of this show called Game Changer. Hosted by Sam Reich, who also runs Dropout. It’s a funky kind of show where comedians mess around with all sorts of wild games. Pretty genius if you ask me. And yeah, at one point I couldn’t help but think, “Hey, would they ever turn this into a video game?” Spoiler: They might!
Had this casual Zoom chat with Sam Reich. We went on about the ins and outs of Game Changer. How they dream up those crazy games, test them out, tweak them, you know. And, naturally, I had to pop the question: Are you guys ever thinking about making a video game out of any of your shows?
Reich was like, “Oh, for sure.” He’s thinking maybe something tied into Dimension 20—some big D&D gig they got—or yeah, maybe even Game Changer.
He’s all about authenticity. Wants it to feel like, you know, true Dropout spirit. Ain’t gonna just hand it off to some random company to mess it up. Nah, they want to dive in deep. And it needs that spark. If it doesn’t stand out, why bother, right?
But man, games, they’re pricey! Like, not just pocket change. And time? Forget about it.
Asked Reich if this is just one of those pipe dreams or if it’s something they’re actually playing with. He’s got a serious case of “we’ve got ideas.” Sounds like they’re really cooking something up.
He mentioned they’ve been tinkering with small web games on Game Changer. Like baby steps, let’s see if we can even figure this game-developing thing out at all. Sounds like they’re feeling pretty good about it though. Could be soon, or, uh, whenever they figure everything out.
Oh, and just so you know, Game Changer’s season 7 finale is dropping on their own platform on August 11. In case you’re keeping track.
