Xbox’s Gears of War: Reloaded is nearly here, and wow, it’s a big deal because it’s finally landing on a PlayStation console. Wild, right? This game, almost two decades old, yet somehow it’s gonna hog up a lot of your PS5’s storage. Who’d have thought?
So, How Big Is It, Anyway?
Okay, so here’s the scoop: The PlayStation Game Size X account—which, let’s face it, is like the Nostradamus of download sizes—says Gears of War: Reloaded will be a hefty 63.103 GB when it drops later this month. Oh, and there’s a Day-1 update to rub it in. Joy.
Preorders let PS5 players start preloading on August 21. Funny, right? You can touch it (well, digitally) five days before the official release on August 26. But you can’t actually play it until 11 a.m. ET that day. Typical. Want to snag it? Sure thing, it’s going for $39.99 on the PS Store.
This remaster means Marcus Fenix is bringing his battle against the Locust to PlayStation at last! Fancy stuff too: up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second support. Plus, cross-play, cross-progression, VRR support, and no loading screens during the Campaign. Like, none! The PS5 version is PS5 Pro-enhanced, too. Isn’t tech just grand?
“As the 20th anniversary of Gears of War approaches in 2026, we’re kind of having a nostalgic moment,” says the announcement. It’s all about stories, friendships, unforgettable hangs, yada yada. With this new remaster, it’s like they’re inviting everyone to the party.
Rumors were flying for a while, though. There was even talk about a Gears of War Collection with the first three games hitting PS5. The internet had a field day with that one. Ah, rumors—never a dull moment.
