Alright, so here’s the deal with Marvel Rivals. There’s this buzz going around about NetEase’s upcoming matchmaking tweaks, and let’s just say folks aren’t exactly thrilled. This whole thing is part of the big hoo-ha of Marvel Rivals Season 3.5. Yep, they’re chucking in fresh features and tweaks to keep us glued to the screens, I guess.
So, Marvel Rivals dropped its third season on July 11, and with it came Knull, the god of symbiotes – sounds intense, right? Anyway, in comes Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, as a new playable character. There’s a new map too– Klyntar: Celestial Husk. And, hang on, they’re still fiddling with Team-Ups. Phoenix and Wolverine have this new combo thing going on, and two new ones for the Human Torch—teaming with both Spider-Man and The Thing. But, seriously, not everyone’s pumped about this one announcement.
Now, here’s the twist. The community’s riled up over these matchmaking limits for ranked play. So, if you’re chilling in the Platinum league or higher, forget about forming five-player squads. Over on some subreddit, someone with the username smaughh called it straight-up “odd,” thinking it’s a weird attempt to tackle those pesky “massive stacks.” There’s a flood of folks, hundreds at least, who enjoy squad play with buddies who now see this as a dampener. And don’t get me started on smurf accounts—it’s like pushing people into making those just to play how they want.
Apparently, if you’re floating around in Bronze, Silver, or Gold? Good news—you can still roll with your crew of five in ranked matches. But as soon as you hit Platinum, Diamond, or Grandmaster? You’re down to three players. Top-tier folks—Celestial, Eternity, One Above All—might as well cozy up to solo queue because it’s down to teams of two.
Now, what’s cooking in Season 3.5 besides the matchmaking fuss? Blade. Yep, the daywalker himself is slashing his way into the fray alongside Moon Knight, Cloak and Dagger. Some new joint deals with Adam Warlock and Luna Snow too—good times for them. And oh, a symbiote-style outfit for The Thing is on the horizon. It’s a freebie, and who doesn’t love free stuff?
So that’s the gist. There’s a lot to soak in, huh? But don’t worry, Marvel Rivals is keeping things spicy—just a bit tangled, if you ask me.
