Okay, so, here’s the deal with Wuchang: Fallen Feathers—yep, the game everyone’s been ranting and raving about. You might have heard it being called everything from a “Souls-slop” (who comes up with these terms?) to… what was it… “gooner-bait”? Honestly, don’t even ask me what that means. Anyway, it was also praised as surprisingly good. But brace yourself, because now we’re adding “censored” to that list thanks to a new 1.5 update.
This patch, which popped up this week—yeah, like out of nowhere—threw in changes that seemed harmless till they weren’t. So, some updates were like, whoa, finally—speedier healing here, dodging out of recovery there, and some nifty i-frames tweak when you get smacked down. All good, right? But hold on, then came some vague stuff. Like, “dialogs for some NPCs to complete some plots…” Just what in the gaming world does that mean? Oh, and something about "optimizing exhaustion animations"—uh, okay, cool?
So, what’s Leenzee up to? Turns out—bear with me here—they’ve made it so you cannot, repeat cannot, take down historically big-shot bosses or NPCs anymore. Instead, they just peace out and chat post-fight. Can you believe that? Legends like Liu Wenxiu and Emperor Chongzhen just, I dunno, become chill buddies after a rumble.
Now, Lance McDonald, who’s like a superfan or something, shared this on social media, and he couldn’t help but laugh (or cry, honestly, who knows…). People are apparently losing it over the “Dragon Emperor” lingering on after his, um, historically accurate demise because yeah, he was dead at this point!
It gets crazier—a bunch of players in China got ticked off because you used to be able to off these historical dudes. Like actual blow-your-mind censorship? Kinda seems that way. They even yanked out the “pray” gesture that was a thing with this Portuguese Christian character. And Chapter 4? All those Ming soldiers don’t wanna fight anymore. Easy-peasy path now.
With the game getting a bit softer and those enemy armor reductions (nerfs they call ’em), it’s like players are rallying against this 1.5 patch on Steam and Reddit. Wild, right? Some fans are down to rolling back updates by dabbling in file edits. Hardcore or what?
Not everyone’s having a meltdown over the patch, though. Performance has been on the up and up for PC users—slowly though, like watching paint dry, right? So, does this mean Wuchang’s Steam review score is on the up? Nope, not even close. It’s more like, swap complaints of crashes with review-bombing over the censorship. Yikes.
Still no word from Leenzee about why they decided to remix Wuchang’s tale. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S folks just got to check out the update earlier today. What’s next, who knows?
