Alright, so here’s the deal. Bigscreen’s finally started shipping those Beyond 2 headsets—the skinny, lightweight ones for PC VR. They hit a bit of a snag on the production front, but now they’re rolling them out.
It’s like, there was this massive pile-up of pre-orders that needs sorting. They’re hoping by September-ish to clear the decks. It’s a bit of a wait, like holding your breath and hoping for the best.
The Beyond 2 comes in two flavors: the regular and the snazzier 2e with eye-tracking, which sounds kind of intense. Price tags? Oh, they’re not cheap—just over a grand for the base model and a bit more for the eye-tracking one. A small fortune or a big investment, I guess.
And what’s surprising—or maybe not—these new headsets are flying off the shelves. I mean, they sold more in the first day than what the original did in four months. That’s kind of a wow moment, right? Twelve days in, they’d already outpaced the entire first year of the original. So, Bigscreen’s ramping up production in LA, bringing in more people, and even sending out engineers to keep an eye on things overseas. Busy bees, those guys.
If you’re one of those who ordered with the optional Custom-Fit Cushions before May 7th, you’re looking at a mid-August delivery. Halo Mounts? They’re taking a little longer—September or October. Yup, more delays.
And hey, a bit of good news if you’re stuck in the waiting line with a Beyond 1 order: Bigscreen’s upgrading you to a Beyond 2, so you’ve got that going for you, which is nice. They’ve circled July 25th as the date to watch out for.
A little side note—they promised back in April, no price hikes on these headsets due to tariffs. Guess that’s something you don’t have to stress over, at least.
Anyway, tech launches—always a bit of a rollercoaster.
