Alright, so there’s this game — or rather, a bunch of games bundled up like someone decided to clean out an old-school arcade and toss it all in one package. It’s called IREM Collection Volume 3 (names are hard, I guess), hitting consoles next week. Imagine dusting off your dad’s Atari? Yeah, kind of like that but on steroids.
Now, these aren’t just any games; no sir, these are three horizontal shooters — don’t ask me for specifics about what “horizontal shooter” means, something about going sideways? Anyway — Mr. Heli, Mystic Riders, and Dragon Breed are the stars of this show. Mr. Heli is basically a chopper with legs (because flying wasn’t cool enough), zooming around in a labyrinth full of puzzles and big bad bosses. Think of a Saturday morning cartoon with way too much caffeine.
Mystic Riders — oh boy — it’s like Harry Potter meets Mad Max. You’re on broomsticks battling sky turtles. Yeah, you read that right. Turtles in the sky. And fiery demons. Why not? You can play it on co-op too, so grab a buddy. Witch or wizard, your choice. Just remember to clean your broom after because sky turtle guts can’t be good for the wood.
Dragon Breed — don’t even get me started. You’re on a dragon named Bahamoot, which sounds like someone sneezed while trying to play Battleship. This game is the fantasy apocalypse mashup you never asked for but definitely want to try once. Biomechanical terror meets medieval dreams.
Why are they doing this? Remaster? Re-release? Money grab? Maybe it’s nostalgia, or maybe that’s just my cynical side speaking. Anyhow, they’ve got these extra features like save states, quick load (because playing the same level for hours is only fun when you’re six), and leaderboards. Compete with strangers, or just slack off in your undies while blasting away.
So, stick around on PS4Blog.net — I mean, if you must — there might be a review at some point. Until then, dust off those thumbsticks and prepare for a blast from the past. Good luck, and may your sky turtle aim be true.
