Nintendo has announced that pre-orders for the Switch 2 will be available in the U.S. starting April 24. The pricing structure remains consistent, with the standalone system priced at $449.99 and a bundle including Mario Kart World set at $499.99.
Initially, these U.S. pre-orders faced delays due to the company reassessing how tariffs and evolving market conditions might affect their plans.
When it comes to accessories, expect a slight uptick in costs. The new Joy-Con 2 controllers will now be priced at $94.99, a small increase from the original $89.99. Similarly, the Pro Controller’s price is moving from $79.99 to $84.99. Other accessories, like the Switch 2 camera, dock set, wheel set, and charging grips, will also see price hikes.
“Nintendo will monitor market conditions, and future price adjustments are possible,” the company mentioned in their statement.
Despite these changes, the console will still hit store shelves on June 5.
Initially, pre-orders were meant to kick off on April 9, but these plans got postponed. This coincided with President Donald Trump’s announcement of extensive tariff measures. During this time, a 90-day pause on many tariffs was ordered, except for the increase on Chinese goods.
Titles such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Banaza, which is set to launch on July 17, are holding steady with no price changes. They are listed at $79.99 and $69.99, respectively.
The Switch 2 boasts several enhancements, including a larger HDR-supported display, an additional USB Type-C port, and a significantly more powerful Nvidia graphics chip.
This $449.99 price point is a considerable jump from the original Switch’s $299.99 launch price. Many fans have taken to Nintendo’s social media, urging the company to consider a price reduction.
In light of these developments, Nintendo issued an apology for the delay, expressing their hope that this clarification alleviates some of the uncertainties facing their customers.
