Oh, man. So Fireball 2 on the PS5, huh? It’s like this chaotic dance of neon lights and explosive action, smashing onto the screen with all the grace of a two-ton truck skidding on ice. I dunno why I even noticed how overly neon it felt—maybe it’s that retro, arcadey vibe that screams “Hey, remember the 80s?” So there I was, basically a flaming ball, zipping around, trying not to get my fiery butt handed to me by literal swarms of enemies. And you know, it’s oddly satisfying to lure said enemies into a bomb’s blast radius, though sometimes it feels like herding cats… if the cats were out to obliterate you.
Anyway, the game kicks off with this “Core” mode where you’re all zen, dodging baddies and dropping bombs. And just when you think you’ve got the hang of it—they hit you with “Chaos Mode.” Everything’s even nuttier, with enemies popping out of nowhere because of your moves. Or was it vice versa? Not sure my mind was fully there after all those explosions.
You steer this fireball with that trusty left stick or D-Pad, pressing buttons left and right for boosts. But hold on, don’t boost like a maniac—you’ll end up face-first into more enemies than you can count. I learned that one the hard way. Oh and once you wreak enough havoc, you get these Novas. Megabombs, if you will. They go boom, and—poof!—enemies just vanish. Kind of like my attention span right now.
Oh, another thing. Trophies! Yep, there’s a whole shiny collection waiting for you: Bronze, Silver, Gold—you name it. Survive for waves and waves and snag those milestones. Some are pretty wild, like detonating a hundred Novas or what-have-you. I mean, I’d celebrate if I could just stay alive that long without losing it.
So if you’re a fan of survival games that want you glued to the screen—Fireball 2’s got your number. Playing costs you, like, seven bucks. Cheap thrill, right? Though, heads-up—your eyes might hate you after all that neon. But it’s fine, you’ll live. I guess. That’s my spiel on Fireball 2. Give it a whirl, if blowing stuff up in neon sounds like your idea of a fun Saturday night. Who knows, maybe it becomes your next addiction.
