Oh man, can you believe it? The Witcher 3 is officially ten years old. Yeah, I know, time flies when you’re slaying beasts. Lately, everyone’s diving back into their old game libraries, and if seeing all the anniversary chatter has got you itching to revisit The Witcher 3, there’s this nifty mod you might want to check out. Kind of adds a new flavor, you know?
So, here’s the scoop: you can switch up Geralt’s skills in TW3 using the system from the first Witcher game. Why keep things the same when you can mix it up, right? Yeah, I know, it sounds like I’m rambling. But stick with me.
Anyway, there’s this mod by Gerwant30 — yep, that modder who snagged second place in that CD Projekt’s REDkit contest once upon a time. It’s all part of something they call the “Tales of the Witcher” project. They’ve thrown in a whole bunch of new skill trees, 13 to be exact, and over 200 skills. Makes Geralt’s leveling up a whole new ballgame.
And if you watch that showcase video (which I totally assume you can see even if I’ve got no idea how), it walks you through this journey where you earn your bronze, silver, and gold talents. You know, you start with bronze when you’re less boss, and by the time you’re kicking serious butt, you’re all about the gold.
So, there are these four main skill trees — like strength and dexterity, and then the Witcher signs each have their own little tree party going on. Loads of room to play around, basically. You’d think it’s a lot to wrap your head around, and maybe it is, but it’s kind of like fiddling with a complex puzzle.
Ah, and a quick heads-up — this mod’s more suited for a brand new game in TW3. Your old saves? Not gonna cut it. Also, bear in mind some skills are still beta, so don’t expect everything to be perfect. Apparently, you’ll also need the ‘Alchemy’ mod from SkylineR390 if you’re diving in. See? It’s one big modding community hug.
Also, there’s some chatter about using PsychoCaki’s ‘SCAAR’ mod or even that ‘Immersive Camera for Next Gen’ if you really want to go all out.
So what’s your take? Do you miss the classic skill setup or is TW3’s style just embedded in your brain now? Sound off below.
