It’s wild to think it’s been, what, 10 years since CD Projekt RED threw The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt out into the world on May 19, 2025. I mean, how time flies, right? This game, big hit – like “duh, water is wet.” Critics adored it, gamers snatched it up, over 50 million copies or something by 2023. Insane but, like, who’s surprised?
Celebrating this big 1-0, I’m on this nostalgia trip. Back then? Man, I was kinda lost, floundering around, trying to make sense of life. Might sound deep, but really, I was just hunting for a purpose. Or maybe just a good distraction.
Anyway — wait, no, before I get there — I was gobbling up everything on the Witcher series. Books? Check. Second game? Oh yeah. Obsessed? Probably. They were gearing up to release the third, and I couldn’t wait. The leap they made from Assassins of Kings, oof, big. Like, going from a kiddie pool to the ocean. I’m talking open world, epic quests, and hey, Ciri and Yennefer joining the fun.
Yeah, when I finally got my hands on it, I was hooked. Everything clicked: secrets, mysteries, a world with the wind in your hair. Let’s not forget those choices. Oh, those choices. I’m still haunted by some of them. The tale of the Bloody Baron? Gave me chills.
Fast-forward to the expansions. Hearts of Stone felt like a dark fairy tale — seriously, Brothers Grimm on steroids. Blood and Wine was a masterpiece too, full of vampires and stuff. It’s a miracle it wasn’t its own game.
Games don’t always hit you in the feels. But this one? Tears were shed, no shame. It’s weirdly tied to some tough times in my life but, in a way, that’s why it’s timeless to me. A bit dramatic, maybe, but some things just stick, y’know?
If you didn’t get to try it out, don’t ask me why you’re still waiting. I mean it.
CD Projekt RED? They’ve done other big things. Like Cyberpunk 2077. Rough start there, but the Phantom Liberty? Aces! Spy stuff, thrills… a ride worth taking. Yet, even with that, The Witcher 3 stands tall, a giant in gaming. They polished it up with ray tracing, but it was always shining.
Personal fave, if you ask me.
Now, rumors are brewing about The Witcher 4. Ciri’s in the spotlight, and I can’t wait. Seeing the world through her eyes? Count me in. New terrors, old charms – my fingers are crossed. It’s not happening tomorrow, maybe 2027? A person can dream.
Till then, keep those swords sharp and those senses keener. You never know when the Path calls you again.
Oh, and if you’re looking to dive in, it’s out on pretty much everything: Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, you name it. Enjoy.
