Ah, so Assetto Corsa EVO. Remember when it first came out? Felt like it dropped with a thud, especially for us VR folks. It was this weird cocktail of potential greatness and, well, not-so-great execution. Like trying to make gourmet coffee with a broken espresso machine, ya know?
Then boom — enter the 0.2 update. It’s like they shook the Etch A Sketch and drew a better picture this time. Seven new cars waltzed in: Maserati GT2, Lotus Exige V6 Cup, the classic Alfa Romeo duo, a Porsche that I’ll probably never drive in real life, the Mazda MX-5, and, oh yeah, the Honda NSX-R. Oh, and a couple of tracks, too. It’s like they threw a party and invited Donington Park and Circuit of the Americas. Random combo, but it works.
Was I sidetracked? A bit. Anyway, what’s the deal with VR, huh? It’s supposedly “step two” of making this tech not make me hurl. Also, some fancy stuff like mirror defaults (whatever those are), DLSS added — which sounds like it might cost a lot, but doesn’t — and some grass… new grass across the board. Imagine that.
And don’t even get me started on switching between views. Used to be like juggling flaming swords, but now? Smooth, less risk of self-injury. Progress, right?
Talking serious gear — if you’re not packing some heavy-duty iron to run this thing, forget about it. Still, peep the graphics upgrade between the old and the new build. A friend of a friend told me about it, or maybe I saw it somewhere. Can’t recall. Anyway, it’s better now, trust me.
KUNOS, the minds behind this rollercoaster, are tossing us more updates before it goes full version 1.0. Allegedly by fall 2025. Fingers crossed these tweaks justify the $32 they’re asking. Let’s see if they can really stick this landing. Or not. Who knows?
