So, yeah, Arken Age! Originally launched on PSVR 2 and PC VR, but guess what? It’s coming to Quest 3 and Quest 3S this November. And, seriously, it’s one of the most immersive solo games I’ve messed around with this year. The Quest version looks unexpectedly good, too—like, really good for a port.
There’s something about it, you know? It’s like the devs have been knee-deep in VR stuff themselves, picking up inspiration from the big hitters. I mean, it’s got those Stormland and Lone Echo vibes—remember those? Total nostalgia for me. Single-player, super immersive, all about that hands-on gameplay that pulls you right in.
Okay, so combat in Arken Age? Ranged and melee, baby. Plus, there’s climbing. A lot of climbing. Vertical madness. It kinda feels like the game just gets what VR should be about, you know? It’s all about putting you in the world with its embodiment and diegetic design—fancy terms, but basically, it just draws you in.
Graphics-wise, it’s something else. Looks better than most VR stuff, and that’s not just me hyping it up. The Quest version seems to follow through nicely, though it’s maybe not exactly the same as the tethered versions. I dunno, though—it’s looking pretty sharp in the trailers I caught a glimpse of.
The catch? Yeah, it’s only gonna work on Quest 3 and Quest 3S—basically cutting ties with the older Quest 2, which, let’s be honest, is kinda ancient tech-wise now.
Anyway, mark your calendars because November’s the month. No clue about the price yet, but you can slap it on your wishlist in the Horizon store for updates. Not that I’m totally obsessed or anything… but, yeah, I might have already done that.
