Oh man, where do I start with the OneXSugar? So, these folks at OneXPlayer, they’re kind of the OGs in handheld gaming. Like, they were doing this before the Steam Deck made it all trendy again. And now, they’ve thrown this new gadget into the mix, called the OneXSugar. It’s nuts. Picture a console that jams together some of Nintendo’s greatest hits, but it’s all wrapped up in Android vibes. We finally get a sneak peek of this wild contraption. Okay, so — oh, wait, there’s a video thingy — yeah, this is only the world’s first handheld that’s like, transformable. Dual-screen style. It’s giving off serious Nintendo Switch meets 3DS energy. This gizmo was teased ages ago, around when Qualcomm was dropping some new tech mumbo jumbo.
Anyway, the OneXSugar’s got this Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chip inside. Fancy stuff. Imagine, like, power packed into it with an 8-core whatchamacallit CPU and graphics that I won’t pretend to fully understand. Something about ray tracing? Like I know what that means. It’s supposed to make games super stunning, though. And hey, there’s Wi-Fi 7. Was there even a 6? Whatever.
Back to the fun bit, this thing’s got a 6-inch whatever-you-call-it display, and then like a smaller screen flips out, making it totally transform like a robot. And, really, who doesn’t want a screen that flips? It’s kind of like magic. You can work with the big screen, the little one, or both. So many options! We don’t even know if these screens are OLED or what. It’s a mystery! But RGB lights around the joysticks? That’s a yes.
And for the hardcore Nintendo nerds out there, remember that XDS thing? A retro vibe with flip screens. Looks like OneXSugar drank a can of that idea and took it running. The design’s kinda weird, though. Half minimalist, half “I’m a camera,” I guess. Waterproof? Probably not.
Plus, it’s powered by some Arm-based chip, which means serious PC gaming is kind of a nope. But who cares, right? Emulators should run like a dream. Imagine playing all the classics — childhood feels and all.
So, it’s hitting Indiegogo soon. No price, no dates. Just a box to stick your email in. Maybe next month we’ll know more. Or maybe, like, never. Who knows?
