Stainless Appoints Ben Gunstone as CEO

Man, so Stainless Games, right? The creators of Carmageddon, which, let’s be honest, is a name that sounds like a metal band mashed together with a destruction derby — classic. Looks like they’ve just given Ben Gunstone the keys to the executive suite. Wonder if he gets one of those fancy swivel chairs. Anyway, Ben’s stepping in for Patrick Buckland, the guy who’s basically been running the show since the Jurassic era — okay, not quite, but since ’94, which feels prehistoric in tech years.

So, Ben shows up in 2022, probably fresh-faced and with a coffee addiction in the making. He started out running around as a game director. Fast forward a bit, and BAM, he’s running the whole operation. Before this, he was tinkering away at Dovetail Games. Bet he’s seen some stuff.

“I’m totally psyched to be named CEO of Stainless Games,” Ben says — probably while doing a little nervous dance nobody’s supposed to see. He’s all about carrying forward Patrick’s legacy, whatever that means. Corporate speak, right? But there’s something cool about having the old CEO hanging around like a wise Yoda as Executive Chairman. Okay, back to Patrick for a sec. Picture this: he’s turning 62, but claims he looks younger. So he’s sort of stepping back, easing into this chairman seat like it’s a cushioned recliner. Claims it’s to dodge the daily chaos of being CEO, which makes sense — who wouldn’t want to work less while still keeping an eye on the empire? Plus, he gets to dive back into the fun part: making games. Says the company’s still his “baby,” which is kinda sweet but also a bit like calling your aging pet dog “puppy.” Anyway, onwards and upwards with Ben at the helm.
