It’s kinda like everyone suddenly turned on Monster Hunter Wilds. Remember when it first came out? February 28th, a day burned into my brain because my buddy wouldn’t stop talking about the “Mighty” scores it got. OpenCritic, Metascore, all that jazz—solid 89 and 88, if you care about numbers. But now? Oh boy, its recent reviews are the opposite of “mighty.” Overwhelmingly Negative, which is as bad as it sounds.
I mean, it wasn’t all roses even at launch. Sure, the combat had some love and the gameplay loop, if you’re into that sorta thing. But on PC? A whole mess. Crashes were like the uninvited guest at a party—always there, not welcome. Microtransactions in there too, like, come on, Capcom! We can do better.
By now, folks on Steam—more than 8,300 of them—decided they’d had enough and let it rip. The “Most Helpful Reviews” felt like reading my uncle’s Facebook rants. And they weren’t wrong. Optimization issues everywhere, and the performance felt like it was just, I don’t know, deteriorating over time?
People also griped about the monsters. Datamines showed monsters were coming, but it was like waiting for a bus that took forever to show up. Where’s the content we were hyped for?
Oh, and about that open-world thing. At first, I thought it’d be cool, like some scenic plan. But reviewers said it felt pointless. Like, you ever go somewhere and think, “Why am I here?” Yeah, that.
Capcom’s got this showcase on June 26th. Fingers crossed they spill some good news or fixes. And no one wants another dud when that update drops. I’m curious, but also nervous—because, who knows, right?
