Wow, okay, so Microsoft is jumping into the handheld games thing. Partnering up with Asus, they’re rolling out these new gizmos—Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X. Honestly, just hearing that made me think, “Why now?” But I guess, better late than never, right? Anyway, these things run on Windows 11. Classic Microsoft move.
So, apparently, because it’s Windows, you can run all sorts of launchers, like Battle.net right off the bat. Makes sense, I guess? Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming are just sitting there too, waving their arms like they’re in Times Square or something.
And now they’re talking about this new, spruced-up Windows 11. What’s so different? Dunno. They didn’t really spill the beans on how it’s any different from ROG’s other handhelds.
Roanne Sones, one of the big names at Xbox, was all excited on Xbox Wire. They’re really selling this whole “Hey, you can game anywhere now!” vibe. Plus, the new devices have all these fancy features—an immersive screen, a huge game library… the works.
Oh, and they threw in how smooth it is to use Windows 11 on these Alleys. There’s Game Bar for getting around, browsing games, chatting, whatever you need. I wonder if it’s really as easy as they say.
But, of course, no word on what it’s gonna cost. Typical. They’re aiming for a launch in late 2025. So we’ve got some time to see how this all pans out. Maybe it’ll be worth the wait. Or maybe it’ll just be another tech flop. Guess we’ll see.
