Well, today’s the day. Honkai: Star Rail – it’s finally here, and I’ve been waiting forever for this. Or maybe not “forever,” but you get the point. They’re kicking off their big collab event with Fate/stay night. Like, imagine waiting for Christmas and suddenly it’s a big ol’ Halloween parade instead. Confusing yet exciting.
So, a week after patch 3.4 drops (wasn’t just me, right? There was more than the usual fanfare?), and bam – they bring in Fate/stay night. I remember thinking, while shoving popcorn into my face during that developer livestream in June, that new characters were coming. And here they are.
Anyway, before my brain derails completely – they say the collab stuff is sticking around for a while. But of course, there’s no end date. Rumors are flying that it’s gonna last till November. Take that as you will.
Oh, and the characters! Saber pops in, sword and all, a Wind/Destruction type at 5 stars. And Archer? Also a 5-star! But he’s Quantum/Hunt, whatever that means. He’s the freebie if you log in during this event. Saber, though? You gotta pull – which always feels like gambling with fate (pun very much intended). And Archer shows up with enough stuff to get him to level 60, so that’s kind of neat.
Four banners are up for grabs. Nothing special here; Saber, Archer, light cones, yada yada. No luck with boosted drop rates on 4-star doodads. Although, if you’re into risky antics, you’re guaranteed Saber’s light cone after 200 tries. Someone surely wouldn’t obsessively track those odds, right?
Quick side note: Weirdly, none of these collaboration heroes speak English. Kind of a statement from MiHoYo, considering the whole thing going on with SAG-AFTRA and their voice actors. I wonder if that was intentional or just the cosmos having a laugh.
There’s a new chapter, too – something about Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail (sounds dream-like, literally). Plus, a 30-day challenge thingy running until August 11. Combat, rewards, the usual. It’ll join the game as Conventional Memoir content later, but some goodies are for now or never. Life’s like that sometimes.
Earlier this month, Phainon steps out of NPC obscurity. 5-star, Physical/Destruction specialist. Just extra chaos in the multiverse. Oh, the first phase of reruns popped up with Tribbie and Sunday, and Phase 2 promises Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade. Firefly even gets a new outfit, because why not?
Oh, and Kafka, Silver Wolf, and Blade fiddled with their gameplay or something. Perfect timing for Jingliu’s rerun with her shiny upgraded kit.
So yeah, that’s the whirlwind in my head about Honkai: Star Rail’s latest antics. It might be a mess, but it’s a glorious one.
